The post below explains the importance of the communication between the hypothalamus and the pituitary. It also explains the changes that would occur of the pituitary did not receive commands from the hypothalamus.

It is important for the hypothalamus to communicate with the pituitary gland so as to stimulate cellular activity in response to stimuli from receptors throughout the body. The hypothalamus oversees numerous internal body conditions such as blood pressure, temperature, nutrient content, and water content, among others. Changes in such conditions are perceived by receptors throughput the body that send nervous stimuli to the hypothalamus. In response to the stimuli, the hypothalamus communicates directives with the pituitary gland that releases hormones to stimulate cellular activity to restore normal body conditions.

If the pituitary did not receive commands from the hypothalamus, several problems caused be caused to the body that would lead to disorders. Secretions of hormones by the pituitary will be dependent on other inputs since it can no longer depend on the hypothalamus. However, since changes in body conditions are perceived by receptors that send nervous stimuli to the hypothalamus, the pituitary would not respond to changes in blood glucose levels, water level, hormone secretion by other organs, among other changes. The changes would lead to complications in the body functioning, and disorders in some cases (Krey et al. 1975).
