In terms of end-of-life issues, I still believe that choosing how and when to die is not ethically viable. Euthanasia or physician assisted suicide to end one’s life can be countered by human life ethics where no one has the right to take one’s life. This means that death cannot be planned. Even though some would argue that it is the only means to end pain and suffering for some people, the topic still contradicts with ethics concerning the value of human life principle. In the end, the sanctity of human life must be maintained. Therefore, sick and terminally ill people, who are at the right state of mind, can choose to terminate care and medications. But, ethically, request to die and receive euthanasia must not be supported as it is opposed to natural means of life termination.
