In addition , Neuman ( 2017 ) states that reliability is easier to achieve and necessary for validity and argues that perfect reliability or validity is impossible to achieve in research . Both reliability and validity appear to be important to confirming the results of the study . The reliability of results suggests that the measurement method is consistent and dependable . To increase the reliability of a measure researchers should make sure that the definition of the concepts being measured are sharp and clear , they should include two or more indicators or measures and have a very precise level of measurement . However , reliability does not ensure that a measure is valid and in fact , a reliable measure can be deemed to be invalid . ( Neuman , 2017 ) This may occur because the instruments used themselves are not reliable . Validity in the research process implies that the measurements are accepted as being truthful . For instance , when educators implement an academic intervention in their classroom or in a small group many times the programs used are tested to see if the results promised are subsequently achieved . The assessments and benchmarks provided to the students are uniformly administered and the script for all academic lessons are administered the same to ensure reliability . Then these results are then analyzed to measure the validity of these results , and the program being used for the intervention .
