The human ecology perspective of community is focused on the relationship between populations and their environment, particularly in terms of spatial organization or the distribution of people and services; the ecological approach considers how the environment affects human development, interaction, and quality of life (Zastrow, C. H. & Kirst-Ashman, K. K., 2016). According to this viewpoint, an individual’s behavior is impacted by individuals around them as well as what they observe in their surroundings. Unfortunately, economic inequality is an aspect of this idea that relates to resource access, which makes some groups or individuals richer, more powerful, or more talented than others.

 

Doug and his sister grew up in a community where many essential services, such as appropriate education, were unavailable. Doug is enraged because his sister’s husband was reared in a neighborhood with more resources and affluence, and he believes he has been denied a better life as a result of the community and social class he was compelled to join. While economic inequality is unjust, it is a concept on which our economy is mainly based. Individuals who shop at dollar stores and buy discount brands are needed by the economy, as are individuals who shop at high-end stores and buy high-end products. Despite how unjust it is that everyone does not have access to the same resources, there is some type of balance that must be maintained.

 

Doug made a mistake by venting in such a harsh and aggressive manner. While he has the right to voice his feelings about these social and economic injustices, there are more constructive methods to do so.
