Provide two different examples of how research uses hypothesis testing, and describe the criteria for rejecting the null hypothesis. Discuss why this is important in your practice and with patient interactions.
Below is a Sample Solution.
Remember! This is just a sample. You can get a custom paper

Hypothesis testing is the process of evaluating the strength of evidence from a sample and providing a framework for making population-related determinations, i.e., it provides a method for understanding how reliably observed findings in a sample under study can be extrapolated to the larger population from which the sample was drawn.
Hypothesis testing :
Hypothesis testing is the process of evaluating the strength of evidence from a sample and providing a framework for making population-related determinations, i.e., it provides a method for understanding how reliably observed findings in a sample under study can be extrapolated to the larger population from which the sample was drawn. As an example, researchers can use it to test the following:
i. A new medication that you believe may be effective.
ii. A method of teaching that you believe would be more effective.
iii. A possible new species’ habitat.
iv. A more equitable method of administering standardized tests.
Criteria for rejecting the null hypothesis:
Hypothesis testing is a statistical test used to determine whether or not the hypothesis assumed for the sample of data holds true for the entire population. The following criteria is employed in order to reject a null hypothesis:
i. Making an assumption, also known as a hypothesis, about a population parameter.
ii. Obtaining sample data
iii. Calculating a sample statistic
iv. The sample statistic is then used to evaluate the hypothesis.
If the test statistic value is greater than the critical value, we reject the null hypothesis. We can also use the test statistic’s p value to reject the null hypothesis if it is less than the level of significance .
Importance of hypothesis testing:
A hypothesis test compares two mutually exclusive statements about a population to see which one is supported by the sample data the best. A hypothesis test determines whether or not a finding is statistically significant. Thus in my practice it would help me in evaluation of how best to give care to my patients which is my main goal .
