In a situation where by parents refuse for blood transfussion to be carried out for their child as a result of their religious beliefs, I will consider the right to life for the child as being paramount before making consideration about religious matters. A s result, I will go ahead and perform the blood transfusion as a way of saving life of the child. Since the child is unable to give competent consent, it is legally acceptable to give any form of life saving treatment to the child withou making consideration to the wishes of the parents.
This is because it is the right of every child to live, and if this blood transfusion could cure her, I would perform it because life is superior to her parents’ religion. Any form of treatment beneficial to the child should be given irrespective of the parent’s religious wishes.
