There are many similarities between the ERG Theory and Maslow’s Hierarchy because Maslow’s theory and the ERG theory both try to explain motivation and how it affects behavior. Both theories are based on the idea that there are basic needs that drive people to do things and to behave in certain ways. Another similarity is that both theories have a hierarchical framework. Maslow’s belief that people are essentially good and that they seek to improve throughout life is reflected in his hierarchy of needs approach, which can be described as a satisfaction–progression model. In essence, an individual regularly experiences a need until it is regularly satisfied. At that point, the person “progresses” or moves toward the next need level (Baak,2017). The ERG theory is a response and reaction to Maslow’s Hierarchy theory and reduces Maslow’s 5 levels of need to just these 3 categories, existence, relatedness, and growth. Both
