The five stages of grief are : ( 1 ) denial , ( 2 ) anger , ( 3 ) bargaining , ( 4 ) depression , and ( 5 ) acceptance . When catering for the family and patient during the end of life care process , it is important to prepare to comfort the patient and family during the entire process . Staying in communication with them about what they may be feeling and how the organization can best cater for that is key . Allowing difficult questions to be asked and providing both emotional and spiritual support is essential to the proper care of all parties involved due to the intensity of the situations . Expecting this shift in behavior and educating employees on how to cater to it is an important part of the job . Retrieved from : ACA. 2019 . Grief and Bereavement . American Cancer Society .
