History : In 1982 , Hezbollah , who were also known as The Party of God was formed . ” Hezbollah was a rather small organization ” ( Falk & Morgenstern , 2009 , pg. 9 ) . This was a Muslim group who stood up and fought against the Western Imperialism and Israel that were in Lebanon . This group started out as an Islamic movement . Hezbollah was politically declared in 1985 . Defining characteristics : Hezbollah ‘s characteristics started out with suicide bombings but later increased their characteristics . They now kidnap , hijack and also smuggle many different weapons and explosives . Hezbollah also receives military training , financial support from Iran and political support from Syria . Goals : This group ‘s main goal is to establish an Islamic government that will liberate Jerusalem . Hezbollah also wants the removal of the Jewish state . This includes anyone who is giving support to the Jewish state because they are seen as a target to them . Structure / Hierarchy : Hezbollah ‘s structure / hierarchy is made up of three levels . The first level is a seven member Majilis as – Shura council . This level overseas five lower sub councils . The second level is all the executive council . This level overseas all the daily operations and decisions that are needed . The third level is the supervisory committee . This level overseas the propaganda and the support of all the Hezbollah activities they may hold . Counterterrorism strategies : Hezbollah has become a large organization that many follow . One of the first things that should be done to combat Hezbollah is to target Iran for their financial support to Hezbollah . By targeting their financial supporters we can find ways to cut them off . If they have no financial support they will soon begin to struggle . The second thing would be to target their communication . If we can target their communication efforts this will limit their recruitment and limit them from growing any further . This can also be done by interference to any radio signals or television signals they may be sending out .
